Public Health is an interdisciplinary field, with a wide scope of coverage; it is one that can be applied to many other fields in some way, shape, or form. By definition, public health involves the science of protecting the community, and the health of those within it. Public Health is a field with a variety of sub-disciplines, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, and health policy, among many others. Although there are a variety of sub-disciplines within the field of public health, the very foundation of this field is rooted in the 10 Essential Public Health Services framework; this framework is designed to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of an individual, no matter the community that they are in. The CDC lists out these services in the following image:

This framework has been used to create jobs within the field, launch public health campaigns, and raise information within the community. It is important to note that public health is an ever-changing field, with a growing need for its services.
